Living the American Dream

We had it all, a 5,000 square foot house (7,500 if you included the basement) on 2.25 acres of land, 2 trucks, 1 car, 2 motorcycles, 2 dogs, 2-3 great vacations a year.  When we went on vacation we would take other people with us for free. From the outside we were living the dream.  We gave the best gifts and had the best parties.  The kids dressed like they were catalogue models, bi-weekly trips to the salon and barber for the adults, and we went out to eat 2-3 times a week. Over a 5 year period we had various family members living with us for free.  People would borrow money from us, never pay it back, and we would lone them money again. We were on top of the world and the envy of many.  We were living large until the bottom fell out.

Then things changed.  The real estate market shifted, mortgages got adjusted and we refinanced our mortgage twice.  The lack of communication in our family began to show.  My husband handled our finances and didn't want to worry me with the truth of our situation.  My usually happy go lucky hubby would become grumpy, sullen and withdrawn whenever our savings account would get low.  My husband and I gained over 30 lbs each and I was prescribed medication for high blood pressure. We were making over $150,000 a year, and living paycheck to paycheck.

How could 2 highly intelligent people of faith end up in such a situation?  We were both working full-time, we tithed, we gave offerings, and served in church.  Most people think we should have been covered in our American Middle Class dream  life.  How could we have gotten ourselves almost $850,000 in debt?  How have we gotten that debt down to less than $80,000 in 7 months? How my family got back on track?

Take it from me, there is no debt too large or too small to pay off.  Over the next few weeks, I'm going to continue my story.  However, if you are in debt , you need to act fast to get out.  Go to http://www.tinyurl.com/warondebtnow to learn how to get out of debt today.

War on Debt Class

I did my first War on Debt class at work today.  It was so exciting to see the look in other peoples eyes when they have that Ahhh Haaa moment.  I am working toward Financial Freedom and I am taking others with me.

As Educators we are constantly being asked to do more with less, so this is a great way to learn how to make that concept a reality in our own lives.  The best part is that by changing your way of thinking you can actually do more with less and have more to show for it in the end.

I have also been using the Grooming the Next Generation for Success techniques on my students to help them reach there fullest potential.  It is amazing how quickly children will adapt when you use the right words, ie. obey, self control, success, etc.
